And what not to feed it.

Everything you want is on the other side of fear.

Fact.

The only problem is, by not facing your fear, you’re feeding it.

Time is the food of fear.

The more time you give your fear, the stronger and (seemingly) more indomitable it becomes.

You know it’s true. If I’m lying, I’m dying.

So what do you do?

If you’ve been following me for any length of time, then you’d probably surmise the answer is simple, and you’d be correct.

You stop feeding your fear(s) with time and face it.

That’s it.

Fear is the signal for you to do the thing that scares you. Because if you don’t—and the more time you feed it—the greater the fear becomes.

Now, make no mistake, I am far from perfect, and it isn’t my intention to grandstand with these daily notes to you, Dear Reader. Far from it. These daily notes are as much a reminder to myself as it is a swift kick-in-the-ass to you.

Case in point: right now it is 7:39 AM on Friday, February 18th and I have signed up to run my first 400m at a track meet later today.

Keep in mind, I have only ran the 60m, 100m, and 200m in the past. The 400m is completely foreign to me. Couple that with me racing against college kids who are fifty lbs less than me and ten or more years younger than me, and you’ve got a wonderful recipe for fear.

So, I’m taking my own advice. Today, I’m going to stop feeding my fear (the 400m dash) time, and I’m going to starve it by doing it.

What fear are you going to starve today?
